"I love London?"
London city of opportunity or inhumane monster devouring millions. The exhibition "London I love you?" by Scottish photographer Hugh Fulton addresses these questions. For the most part taken in and around the south bank area of London during the summer of 2006 the images show a London basking in a tropical heat wave a city of monumental modern architecture but what of the citizens? People reduced to incidental features in a landscape of steel, concrete and glass. Dislocated figures absorbed in their own worlds, marginal elements of society present but studiously ignored. The London of success and the good life is present but how much of it is real, "all the world's a stage" and London is probably where the show started. The images shown play with this ambiguity, are they photographs or hyper realist paintings. In reality they are digital works of photographic origin printed on a paper usually used for watercolours and presented in a pseudo traditional style.
