Arianna Catania photographs with a modern eye but a subtle backward glance at the past masters such as Atget or Kertész. She describes the rigorous architectural forms of the city but includes the human element. Sometimes with a light touch of irony which is refreshing in today's sometimes ascetic climate. These photographs are interested in the now and future Berlin, no looking back again a refreshing change to the usual photographs of Berlin full of references to that city's emotively loaded past. The one exception being the photo of the holocaust monument which although meaningful does not overbear. Ms.Catania is a woman to watch the best is yet to come but remember you saw it here first!
